Minimal Access Surgery, Keyhole Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery and General Surgery Services in India

ThumbGeneral surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs, e.g., intestines including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. General Surgery also deals with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, and hernias.

Our network hospitals in India offer a wide range of services locally for patients who require general surgery. This includes the abdomen, plus the oesophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts, as well as the skin and breasts. Our network hospitals are able to offer many of these surgical procedures using minimally invasive techniques. These hospitals comprises general surgeons who specialize in various areas of surgery and are dedicated to performing surgical procedures with a special emphasis on utilization of minimal access techniques (Laparoscopy Surgery), so that patients reap the benefits of faster recovery, lesser post-operative pain and minimal post-surgical complications.

Open and Laparoscopic Surgery

Open surgical procedures involves making a single large incision. The procedure is divided into three main stages i.e. cutting the patient open, removing or repairing an organ or tissue and closing the large incision again. In a laparoscopic surgery (also called as minimal access or key hole or minimally invasive surgery), the impact of the first and last of these is reduced as far as possible, either by gaining access to the body through natural orifices or by operating through very small holes (typically 5-15 mm across) cut into the body. Laparoscopes with miniature camera are inserted into these small incisions. The development of fibre optic light sources, miniature video cameras and specially designed (e.g. cutting, grasping, stapling) tools has allowed increasingly complex surgery to be performed, with the surgeon being guided by high resolution, magnified video images. Most advanced laparoscopic equipments are used at our network laparoscopic surgery centers in India. Latest video imaging systems - based on miniaturized HD cameras and fiber-optic light sources - provide high quality, magnified colour images. They are displayed on two or more high resolution TV monitors to ensure that all members of the operating team (surgeon, anesthetist, nurse, etc.) can also observe.

By using high end equipments, this surgical procedure translates into faster recovery, lesser post-operative pain and minimal post-surgical complications.
